Hope Chest Community Project
The Hope Chest is based in the old church hall at Wellesley.
We're a charity who aims to support our local community by providing furniture, household goods and clothing at very low prices or by referral.
We opened our doors in May 2022 after years of dedication and dreams of serving the community we live in.
Very Rev. Dr Russell Barr officially opened the Hope Chest, pictured here with Rev. Gillian Paterson.
We are a team of volunteers from Wellesley Parish Church and the Methil community.
We run a showroom where you can purchase goods of all kinds from furniture, household goods, toys and games, books, and clothing all at low prices.
Donations
We accept donations of any kind.
We can only run this project with people's help.
We CAN’T accept the following:
-
Furniture items (such as sofas) that don’t have current fire labels
-
Underwear – unless brand new and in original packaging
-
Dirty, stained, or unusable clothing
Volunteers
We are a charity run solely by volunteers. We are proud to have an enthusiastic and caring team who are always happy to help.
We do have facilities to deliver/pick up larger goods, however, this can only be done when volunteers have availability.

Referrals
We also operate a referral system for people who cannot afford to purchase items through a number of partner agencies. We do not accept self-referrals.
